"Black Friday" early indicators of the Christmas season, the "cylical" prediction of the state of our economy. Throw on top the cost of a ten fold increase if Chas. Rangel gets his way (he has brought it up for vote before) and they reinstate the draft. Remember the democrats have gutted our military, our mothballed equipment is cannibalized to keep what we have moving, the bases have been liquidated, overseas bases handed back to those countries that hosted them, and fought against every appropriation for new equipment and new technology to keep pace with our modernized enemies (Isreal went into Lebanaon thinking they had the upper hand of technology and quickly found out their toys were obsolete). The cost of equipping a new army, let alone housing, clothing and feeding it, are immense especially when they just promised to bring overseas troops home, reduce the deficit and not raise taxes before the election. They are not even in control and already spending us into oblivion, plus the dollar is at the weakest point (because we'll have to float a lot of debt, and print a lot of dollars, just like the USSR did to support a massive military) since 1978, because countries have or announced they will be dropping the dollar for the EU, "thanks for all your help and lucrative trade deals, USA". OIf course we are told this will help American exports, if there are any factories left here, and no trade barriers aginst their products as is often the case in these foreign countries we kiss up to. Gold is up, and that's always a bad sign, money is going overseas and out of American investments. My advice is dig up you backyard for a vegetable garden, you may be needing food by this time next year.

The labor participation rate is at a 30 year low. Isn't getting rid of work an objective for obama?

It's simply way overbought. The news Black Friday wasn't so black didn't help. But, basically, it's seen a nice run, and the smart traders take some profits off the table.
