A good song is supposed to tell a story. How about I Believe by Brooks and Dunn. The Dance by Garth Brooks. Taxi by Harry Chapin. Look at the works of Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.

By the way Don McClean wrote American Pie and Kris Kristoferson didn't redo Me and My Bobby McGee, he wrote it.

Sad story. Sounds like a song, a movie or a episode on television. Obviously, he was able to recover and fall in love again, or he would not have a child. We all go through rough times in life. They are part of what makes us the people we are. I am sure he learned to appreciate the people he loves though this experience. We don't have them forever.

My answer is probally non agreeable with some people, but I say Stairway To Heaven by Led Zepplin. I read somewhere that the song is about his life, like when hes talking about a tree by the brook, all the songbirds who sing.......I guess his mom used to read him a bedtime story about a tree by a brook...or something like that. Anywho, I think it kind of tells a story.

all Ballads tell stories. Country music is also noted for it. Try Alan Jackson's Drive or The day the world stopped turning

"Hot Rod Lincoln," by Commander Cody, is a very good one. Also "Get Out of Denver," by Bob Seger,
"I Love the Night," by Blue Oyster Cult,
"Somebody," by the J. Geils Band,
"Smoke on the Water," by Deep Purple,
"Paradise by the Dashboard Light," by Meatloaf,
"Ghost Riders in the Sky," by one of those Western guys, and
"Maybellene," by Chuck Berry.
You're welcome! That was fun!
