Im the same way.. 13 going on 14... All of my friends started at 12 an 13. But not me. Its okay though. I have learned from resent questions like these that some girls are late bloomers. You may not get it till youre 16 for all you know. If youre heavily involved in sports that could be a reason. Ask you mom hold old she was and if she was in sports. My mom was 12 but no sports at all. I hope you can convince your mom so you dont have to go to the doctor. Good luck!!

Some people don't get their period until later, esp if they have a really small frame or are very skinny. One of my friends was 14ish, while others were in 5th grade. Be happy you don't have a period yet- they suck and you will get plenty of years with it.
Physicals aren't that bad, and you will have to start getting them done sometime, if you ever want to go on birth control or be pregnant. You can also pick whether you want a male or female, go with who you are most comfortable with- everyone has their own preferences.
You should get that check up just in case. There are some cancers and other problems that can stop a period, as well as low estrogen levels. Most likely though, since you are so young, you are just a late bloomer.

It is better to get something checked out sooner than later. Why don't you see if your mom would wait until spring? Just show her some facts that girls sometimes take longer to get their periods.
It also is an embarassing topic, but your mom (or an older sister) is the best to ask. Since she is in charge of you until you are 18, best to talk them over with her. She went through all of it remember.

dont worry. i am 14 and still havent gotten mine. a lot of my friends still havent gotten it either. some girls dont get it until they are 18. 12 is actually pretty early, the average is 13-15 so u have plenty of time. dont be embarrased to talk to ur mom, remember she is a woman too. do a little period research ( i would suggest www.coolnurse.com) and explain to ur mom that all girls are different. also dont worry about not having it yet, i love not having it bc my friends are always complaining about what a pain in the butt it is.

Only go to the doctor if you haven't started your period by the time you turn 18.

You might be jealous of your friends having their periods, but you will wonder what you were so excited about when it does come.

Trust me, your friends don't care whether you have had your period, so don't stress about not having it yet. I had my period when I was 11, and my friends didn't get it until they were 14 or 15 and I never really thought it was a big deal.

I hope I helped!

Oh my gosh, the same thing happened to me! My mom said the same thing. I was so embarrassed and I am ashamed to say, but I faked my period! Then at 14 late 14 I might add, I got my period. It will happen, some girls just get theirs later than others. You are perfectly normal! It just happens. Dont worry about it. When you time comes it iwll happen.

On average, menarche (a young woman's first menstrual period) occurs between the ages of 12 and 14 years old - generally two years after her breast budding (average age 10 to 12 years old), and, in most cases, not long after the onset of pubic hair (average age 12 years old) and underarm hair. Stress, various types of strenuous exercise, and diet can affect the onset of menstruation and the regularity of the menstrual cycle.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that a young woman consult her physician if she has not started to menstruate by the age of 16, and/or if she has not begun to develop breast buds, pubic hair, or underarm hair by the age of 13 or 14.

stop stressing about this....this could be perfectly normal.....sometimes girls can be late bloomers and not start until 15 or 16.....rare but does happen. none the less it wouldn't hurt for you to see an doctor for a check up and just have some reassurance. the best thing you can do for yourself right now is stop stressing over it. stress does play a big part in your hormones believe it or not. and if you are sexually active i hope you are using protection and this isn't part of your worries. if so it would be best to come clean with your mom before going to the doctor....better hear it from you then the doctor.

Ok, calm down. Girls get their periods from ages 9 to 16, and the gap is widening. I know tons of girls that are 14-15 and haven't gotten theirs. They're normal and healthy. Your mom is a little too anxious. Look up information in books and online and from a school nurse and prove to her that this is COMPLETELY NORMAL. You must muster the courage to tell her, or, if you can't face-to-face, write her a professional-looking letter and leave it where she will find it. Good luck!

It really is different for everyone. I was 14, my mom was 12, and my sister was 16. It all depends on the person. Also, if you are active in sports or physical activities that plays a role in when you get your period. Don't worry, you'll get it.

My daughter just turned 13 and she still doesn't have her period. The doctor said it is normal and she has until 15. Anytime after that age should be a concern.

Okay, don't freak out.
This is common actually. I know freshman in high school who haven't gotten their periods yet. You'll get yours when your body says you're ready for it.
However if you or your mom feels there is a problem then it wouldn't hurt to go see a doctor.

Still, everyone is different and you shouldn't compare yourself to your friends. People's bodies react and develope at different speeds.
