How important is sun sign compatibility?

Most of the questions in the horoscopes section are about sun sign compatiblity. How much does it influence your relations?

A. Crucial/Matters more than anything else.
B. Very Important/Higher than most other factors
C. Equaly as important as other factors
D. Somewhat Important/Other things matter more
E. No value/no harm just fun
F. No value/May be harmful
G. Neutral/Don't use

This is hard to answer. I personally enjoy astrology. I have been reading and studying it for years. I do like to find out people's sign after meeting them, but I do not use it to make decisions as to who I date or become friends with. (Also, astrology is much more complicated than sun signs alone) Interestingly enough, the majority of the men I have dated have fallen under a particular grouping of signs ( 3 different signs in total) and I was interested before I found out their sign. While I like to analyze people using astrology, It cannot possibly take the place of practical factors such as common sense, wisdom, experience, gut instinct, emotions etc. when making decisions. Love is far too complicated to sum up in a simple compatibility chart of 2 sun signs.

E and F. It's fun, though some statistical results from France and Switzerland point to some significance. However, astrology is a whole lot more than just Sun signs! Actually sun sign compatibility has nothing to do with horoscopes or astrology or synastry. The real astrology is way more complicated and even not accessible to everyone and that's why in general most people stick with something that does more harm to the real astrology. People should NOT rely on sun sign compatibility but go for love and if they want astrology to take a look at their relationships they should do a full or a whole horoscope analysis instead of relying on simple Sun signs. If people would only rely on Sun sign for compatibility I would consider it harmful.

Sun signs are very general when they describe compatability. If you give any creedence to Astrology you also have to consider the rising signs, moons, conjunctions, oppositions and a dozen other factors.
Both people should have their Natal charts done and compared for compatability, if you believe in Astrology. It's not a science, but sometimes can indicate certain traits. It can be a tool, but not the definitive guide to a great love life.

this question is really obscure. it really depends on whether you have an open mind to accept different factors and theories. for most guys i know dont believe in anything supernatural other than themselves. initially i only checked compatibilities for fun, but the more you read and the more experience you have, you start to pick up some truth from astrology.

of course you cannot rely everything on sun sign compatibility because it contributes partially to a person's trait. you also need to look at your rising signs, moon signs, venus signs,etc...ultimately you cannot find real comfort in astrology compatibilities, interpersonal relationships really depends on your effort and the emotional connection you have with others.

I'd say D. It does has some importance but there are more important factors, both astrological and non-astrological. My mom (who LOVES astrology) told me that what sign your Mars is in can have more importance that your Sun Signs.

I tend to take Astrology with several grains of salt. Myself, I'm a virgo, and the rest of my family members are all different signs. You're going to clash. Even if I married a virgo, we're going to clash. I tend to think of Astrology as something more for fun than to take seriously, and honestly, I think everyone else should too (sorry if that sounds preachy....) You know her, she knows you. You're going to have your good moments. But you've got to take the bad moments right along with them - EVERYONE has them, no matter what sign you are or aren't.

i personally dont rely solely on Sun Sign compatability. infact i put little into astrology when it comes to relationships. unless i look at it to see pitfalls in a relationship. i can usualy see attractions and that through astrology but quite frankly i dont really need to know those if im already close enough to them through dating.

In my opinion, if I know someone's sign it tells me their values, morals, personality traits, spender/conservative and whether they are trustworthy or not to be trusted.
