He would have to find another profession altogether and would be excluded from firefighting, EMT/paramedic, any type of security in which background checks were done. You cannot work in emergency services, at all, if you have any type of sex offense on your record.

Well considering how the police protect their own and it's real hard for a woman or girl to prove she was raped then yes he could get away with it. Also if he was accused of rape than he would be suspended without pay while an investigation was taking place and if he were convicted it is possible he would not be allowed to be an officer again.

Since the Policeman has committed a crime, he is no longer able to serve the community in the same sphere. He will serve time for the offense. Since is is not capable or chose not to fulfil his duties as an upholder of the law, he is no longer a man of honor or worthy to be an officer .

He could never be a policeman ever again and he would have such a bad record that it would be hard for him to get another good job.

if he is convicted of the offense they will take away his certification and he will not be able to be a police officer in that state again. Other states would surely not hire an officer whose certification has been stripped from him, especially after the background check has been conducted and they find that the person has a criminal record.
so no, he could not be a police officer ever again if he is convicted.

Never. Government jobs have extremely strict rules. Once he/she is a known sex offender--they would be discharged. Government and city jobs are very, very, contingent about crime.
