its easier once you or 1(+) members can drive but a lot of guitarists and drummers started their first band as early as 12 years old. if this band is gonna be you and some friends and you live close by i say go for it now. if you're gonna open this up to auditions you driving is basically a must. good luck with that band honey!

yeah ! good question.....its better you start off early bt make sure you are well versed with the role in the band..vox drums 6 strings 4 strings, keys etc.. anything...! practice hard..! PANTERA AXE MAN SIR DIME BAG DARELL was banned to participate in guitar competitions at the age of 16 ( coz he won too many competitions at that age..) and was invited as chief guest or Judge.......AMAZING!

As early as possible. Look at Trivium. Those guys are 21 or so. Their lead guitarist was winning awards when he was 17.

i would think the earlier in life the better if your wanting a life as a musician,hank jrs first band was when he was a small boy,,and the vanhalens played for years..
