In a cool, dry place, out-of-reach of children and has no risk of being exposed to heat or flame.

As others have mentioned, moisture is a bad thing. Keep them out of the basement or garage where moisture could ruin them over a period of time.

I have kept fireworks for years, often in the box they were in when I bought them. I have some right now on the top shelf of a closet that must be 4 years old. I set a pack or two off for special events, like News Years Eve or a summer evening when I feel like making the neighborhood dogs go nuts. I've never had a problem with them.

The garage is not the best place because it can get damp out there and moisture is fireworks worst enemy. See if you can find some of those little moisture absorbing bags that come in packaging mostly electronics stuff. If not then wrap the works in some newspaper then place in a zip lock bag and put in a shoe box in a dry closet on the top shelf. The main thing is to keep them dry.

The garage is not a good place, especially if there is anything flammable...if you intend to set them off, there could also be moisture. What are you saving them for....? next 4th of July or Christmas or New Year's eve? I would think some type of metal can might be good, with a airtight lid?

I would take them to the nearest fire hall and turn them in. If they started a fire your insurance could void.
