Stars
by Sherri Anderson
I look to the sky at night and admire the beauty of the stars.
I stand in awe of their brilliance;
They are as shining and constant
and they have been since the beginning of time.
They light the heavens and fill our hearts with wonder.
When one burns out, another takes its place;
for they are eternal.
Wherever you are, they guide you from their home high above the earth.
At times, they seem close enough to touch,
as they transport your dreams far away.
Their magic compels us to offer up wishes for their consideration.
They make us realize that even when the sky is the darkest,
a tiny beacon of light still shines through.
They are God's reminder to us that some things really do go on forever.
To Catch A Falling Leaf
by Leonna
The season has changed from summer to fall
Leaves drift slowly off the trees so tall
They are gold - brown - and red - and green
What a display of colors to be seen
My hands reach out as my eyes are focused on one red leaf
Its descent directly at my waiting palms; then to my disbelief
Swoops back up, winding, swirling, twirling, and spiraling - to the ground
Quietly, playfully, teasingly without a single sound
After a while, I must stop to rest
And look at the tree almost bare, undressed
And wonder in silence,
will it shiver in the winter wind?
The Sea
by Elizabeth Tew
Transfixed I stand and watch
the Tireless Sea
As it's waves crash upon the shore,
spraying it's white, salty foam
Against the jagged rocks and cliffs below,
then returning into itself
The tireless sea
wherein its immeasurable depth
secrets lie buried,
never to be revealed
The tireless sea whose temperament is so mystifying
it neither fears, nor needs any man
but gathers its strength from within.
Scent
by Alberto La Femina
I live on a island
a silent island
the winds comes
and it never stops
sometimes it brings
the scent of the Mediterranean sea
sometimes it brings
the scent of the Saharan sand
but I know
it will bring somewhere
the scent of my island too
This Kiss
by Martini
we stood in the doorway
his hands on my waist
the clock tickling loudly
almost in haste
he moved in closer
his eyes locked in mine
I long for his kiss
For just a moment in time
his lips meet mine
and I feel the sensation
no longer must I wait
to give into the sweet temptation
my knees go weak
my palms become sweaty
I go back to that place
I have been so many times already
the world disappears
all that's left is him and I
and as we pull away
I feel as though I could fly
Like The Waves From The Shore
by Marge Tindal
I must now ebb
The time has come
to sail my oceans
Rolling away from you
like the waves from the shore
rippling out to the vastness of the sea
that beckons my ship of folly
I'll not ask you
to stand the night vigil
on the shoreline
of memory
You are here
on the beaches of my memory
even though I drift the tides
If you should look
into a starlit night
and see a reflection of me
know only that
I will one day
come crashing again
to the shore
swept homeward
by the pull
of the tide
and
you

Memorize Mark Anthony's line:
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer'd it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest--
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men--

are u telleng me to write a poetry?
I woke up early one morning
And rushed right in to the day
i had so much to accomplish
that i didi'nt have time to pray
Problems just tumbled over me
and heavier came each task
why does'nt god show me i wondered
he answered u did'nt ask
I tried to come into gods presence
i used every key to the lock
why does't the door open I wondered
he answered my child u did'nt knock

You could take the letters of your name and put them in a vertical row. Then use them in your poem.

Red roses gracefully arching
Over the garden gate beckon
Someone to enter and walk
Inside and
Enjoy this blissful moment
Best wishes.

I have no direct ideas but poems about specific things like..... a butterfly, the way a street looks, a season, etc. is easy to write because there is only one point of view to focus on.YOURS. and that's what a poem is your point of view write how you feel about that thing. maybe you want to write about a person.....a teacher, your mom i dunno.
