Does the zune media player only play songs and videos you purchace from their marketplace?

It will not allow you to put protected songs on your Zune. If you rip a CD, you could probably put that on...but if you've downloaded songs from walmart.com or some other pay sites, you're going to be out of luck. It won't allow you to put those on.

don't get a zune. there is an article online somewhere about how they suck, but I can't find it.

No you can import your own (haha probably not) music just like iTunes with your iPod.
