I wish I could go barefoot more, but you get hassled if you try (I've been told I can't go to the stores near here without footwear -- frickin' psychos, just because THEY have a problem with feet, I have to wear freakin' torture devices to give them my money! I HATE them.)
Sandals get you in without being hassled. (At my last job, they actually added a footwear requirement, because I went around barefoot.)
I don't exactly waste a lot of money on sandals, though; I buy them cheap. Just enough to shut people up.
The real question is why do so many people have some psycho hang up about feet. Tell them to get lives and leave me be.

Beacause going barefoot would hurt. Plus They are cute and not expensive. All the time girls are to lazy to put there tennis shoes on to go to the mal or water park so they simply slip on some sandals. Don't ask simple questions. Just ask a friend that is a girl.

Because, even if there were no hazards such as glass or rough terrain which would cause obvious cuts on their feet, there's still the numerous (too many to count) hazards of diseases and various parasites which are not visible to the naked eye.
Barefoot ='s bad idea in an urban setting. Every now and again? Sure, it's alright, maybe even "good for ya" from time to time, but as a norm I'd say "wear shoes" or at least something on the bottom of your feet.

Duh! not a waste of money. Ever hear of No shoes, No shirt, No service....? Do you want to put on socks and sneakers to run into a store when you could easily slip on a pair of sandals to meet health code rules? Sandals are just quicker and not to mention cooler on those hot days when you are in a building that requires the use of footware cause barefeet can get injured or spread disease like athlete's foot!

First of all, we don't WAST money. and if we actually wear the sandals, we don't waste the money either. They're obviously being put to good use. I bet you probably wear the latest nikes or pumas or w/e. why do u waste money on those?

Sandals are shoes too,just that they are more simple.
Shoes protect our foot because we are made of flesh and skin.
