Heaviest element by atomic weight may not have been discovered, but on earth it is known as Ununoctium (IPA pronunciation: It is the temporary IUPAC name for the superheavy element 118. It has the temporary IUPAC element symbol Uuo and has an atomic number of 118. It probably shares similar properties of its group, the noble gases, resembling radon in its chemical properties, and so some researchers have referred to it as eka-radon. It is probably the second radioactive gaseous element and the first standard semiconductive gas.
Ignoring nuclear instability due to radioactivity, scientists expect that ununoctium is much more chemically reactive than xenon or radon. It would likely form stable oxides (UuoO3, etc.) as well as chlorides and fluorides.
The heaviest known element is Roentgenium; a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Rg and atomic number 111 making it one of the super-heavy atoms. It is a synthetic element whose longest-lived isotope has a mass of 280 and a half-life of 3.6 seconds. Due to its presence in Group 11 it is a transition metal and so probably would appear as a heavy, solid, shiny metal. Due to the inert pair effect, it should be colored like gold

The heaviest element anywhere is osmium with a density just over 22g per cm3. The element with the highest relative atomic mass is uranium as the other trans-uranium elements mentioned in answers have only been made in the laboratory and have exceedingly short (half) lives.

Yes, 118 is the heaviest produced element we know of, although 117 has not been synthesized yet. As for it existing in space, that's anyone's guess.
