Well.. I'm not a doc, but here is my opinion --

I would think that they would have admitted you to a hospital if they thought that you or the baby were in immediate danger.

I'm sure the nurse was sketchy because she purely doesn't know.

My fluid level was low with my son (he delivered at 37 weeks). After the ultrasound I was instructed to drink lots and lots of non caffeinated fluids and take it easy.

Try to relax and drink fluids and wait to see what they find on the ultrasound. I'm sure you are stressed, but just relax as much as you can. Good luck to you and your family.

First do not worry until you see your doctor worrying. Low fluid could just mean that they might have to deliver early because of a leak (not now just not 40 weeks usually 36 to 38), that the baby is further along then they thought, or that the ultra sound person is an idiot. I vote for that. Usually the technician or nurse messed up. My worst ultra sound was by a doctor. If you went according to him I was going to die in a day or two. No worries. Just in case though remember even early babies do very well now. I have a perfect 7 year old who was born at 24 weeks and 5 days weighing 1lb and 7 ounces. They told my roommate in the High Risk maternity ward at hospital she had low fluids. They put her in on an emergency and called out tons of specialists including a surgeon and the neo doctor. Turns out she was 3 weeks off on the due date and the technician did the ultrasound wrong. She was fine and didn't need to be there except from all the stress she developed extremely high blood pressure and needed to stay to get that in order. So relax, put your feet up, and do not have sex until you see a specialist or talk to the doctor. If it is a leak then the fluid can replenish itself slowly and you do not want any foreign bodies getting into the sack.

I wouldn't worry b/c if something was really wrong then the would of kept you. Are you drinking enough fluids? If the baby has less fluids around it, it is b/c the baby isn't making enough urine. The babies urine is the fluid that the baby is in. I had troubles with my fluid low once and I just had to drink more water and more water. They did an ultra sound to make sure nothing was leaking. I am sure everything will be fine. But not knowing what they are talking about is the worst. Just try to relax honey everything will be just fine. Take care and best of luck.

I have had low fluid later on in pregnancy 32-34 weeks. At twenty weeks of pregnancy it is some cause of concern.Doctors want to know where the fluid is leaking from and at what rate because it is so early. You might need to go on bedrest.I will keep you and your baby in my thoughts. Best wishes!!!

Hi there, try not to worry too much until you have your ultrasound...hopefully they are just being extra careful. You should have a certain amount of amniotic fluid to keep baby healthy and protected, they measure the amounts you have by ultrasound....I found a couple of websites about it...but try not to stress, these sites usually give a worst case scenario to cover their butts....Hang in there...Good luck!!!

Don't panic, just calm down and wait to go have an ultrasound. You will know more then. It's all right, don't worry until you know. I don't know much about low fluid, you can look it up on webmd?

Try not to worry too much (I know, easier said than done). My cousin had this diagnosis and went on to have a beautiful healthy little girl. Try to relax and put your feet up as much as possible.
