This is asked in the wrong category: it belongs in friends and not in careers and employment. You can still have good friends at your final school year by just being yourself and finding some common ground in interests. Join athletics or extracurricular activities or academics to meet new people. Form study groups for classes to study and tutor. You can add more to enrich in dialogue like asking by their day/weekend, school/work, family. Anything to be good conversation starters like music, sports, weather, celebrities, etc.

First of all I have to tell you that you don't need other people to be a good person. You have good grades you said which means you will get into a good college. Second I know how you feel I was the same way in high school no one would talk to me and I was really shy but now I am in college and have lots of friends. The key is not to be shy. Talk to people go to clubs sporting events call people on the phone or chat online. After I stopped being shy I felt confident in myself and I also had a make over. I started to were make up and dress up for school and people started to notice me. I hate to say it but people look at the outside first then the inside. Start small by talking to a new person each week and by the end of the month that is 4 new people you know. Ask questions that want to make people talk like a new movie, new song on the radio or the newest cell phone.
Good luck.

I find that you have to reach out to people if you want to make friends. Invite people over for a movie or some games or cards. It will be easier to make conversation when you have a shared experience and also when people are in smaller groups. If you have a small group of friends now, that should be a good start. I would stop "trying" to make conversation and ask people genuine questions that you would like to know the answer to. People love to talk about themselves, so asking about an aspect of their lives opens the door. Don't put too much pressure on yourself either. College will be a much easier venue to start friendships, so if it doesn't happen this final year, say goodbye and move on to bigger and better things. Good luck!

If people don't say "Hi" back to you when you say it, THEY have the problem, not you. Are you involved in anything extracurricular like a sport or a club at school? If not, then try to see what interests you, and join that group. That way, you'll meet people that share your interests and you'll likely make friends. You just need to be yourself and be confident. Try to make simple conversations with maybe some people who sit by you in class. Lots of times you can get conversation going by making a comment about something happening in class or at school in general. Just know that you are worth knowing, and soon others will be able to see it!

Yes, I have been there...

The way to make friends is to be genuinely curious about the other people, in a way that shows you wantt to know who they are, not what they wear, who they hang out with, etc.

People want to be listened to. If you develop good listening skills, then you will make friends easily, no matter what your social status. There is a book called "The Zen of Listening", by Rebecca Z. Shafir, that you might want to read.

I am not a Buddist, but this is an excellent book that tells you how to be a good listener. I'm not talking about "active listening". Alot of people think that listening is nodding your head in the right places and saying "Yes, I understand - tell me more", but that is not the mark of a good listener. It is the mark of a good actor...

Speaking of acting - as scary as this might sound, try joining a theater class. I think you will find a safe place there to practice thinking on the fly and entertaining a group of people. Besides - theater people tend to be more accepting of awkwardness. They know standing in front of people you don't know can be very scary, and will want to support and commiserate with you.

Besides that, the only other thing that could get in the way is hygeine. I'm not saying that you have any issues - but I am saying that you might want to take a close look at yourself and make sure you smell good (not all calogny, but just that nice soap smell), that you are wearing effective deoderant and clean cloths. Not the most up to date or hottest fashions - just clean.

I can't tell you how many kind people I have seen shunned because they smelled bad. People don't talk about that in general, but you can check this out for yourself.

Finally, you might need to find your friends in a diffrent place than high school. Try going out to events like concerts, book readings, volunteer at the animal shelter or the zoo, and you will find lots of people who want to be heard by you. Then you can make friends with them instead of feeling like you are in a desperate fishbowl. There is an advantage to making friends outside of school first - if you make a mistake or act awkwardly the first few tries, then you don't have to worry as much that word will get around school about your trial run.

As far as college - don't worry, college is a much easier place to make friends, because you need each other more, and you start out in class with people who share your interests too - because you are all studying the same thing.

I hope this helps.
