No Racism was not the cause of the shooting in new York, drugs and alcohol were the factors that led to such an over reaction by the person driving the van.

Clearly the cops violated their own rules and clearly it was racist, because the supposed crooks were black. Doesn't matter what race the cops were, don't you get it?
But racist or not, the cops in NYC are not permitted to fire at a moving vehicle even when it is being perceived to be used as a weapon. If they can't do their job right then they should be suspended or fired just like anyone else who screws up at work. Being a copy even a New York cop does not mean you get to break the rules on your job. And if you don't like the rules you should go get a different job. And if you can't control your emotions you are in the wrong line of work. Case closed.

I agree - but I wonder why some cities tend to be the hotbed of hate crimes against minorities. Racial stereotypes are the reason that police overreact when they deal with minorities - they label them as criminals and act with deadly force; sometimes, without provocation.
The fact is as much as we would like to believe racism is a thing of the past, it isn't. The African American population is only 10% so I wonder why the evening news always portrays them as criminals. I'm not saying they don't commit crime, but when you represent 10% of the population as criminals 95% of the time, the rest of the population assumes everyone is a criminal and treats them unfairly.
We are not quite sure of the facts of this case since the investigation is just beginning, but I have a strong feeling this was a wrongful death situation. The police had the club under surveillance and nothing I've heard so far shows the victim was in any way connected.
Remember the runaway bride? The media/police followed this case with gusto. Today a man, hours from his wedding, is gunned down, and the media and police are investigation his criminal history.

It certainly doesn't seem to be racist. But even people of the same race can discriminate against each other.
I think it should be chalked up to pure stupidity because racism or not theres no way getting around the fact that excessive action was taken... even Al Sharpton oughtta be able to feel secure in that.
You gotta admit firing 50 bullets into a car and almost killing Port Authority cops and a sending a stray bullet into an mans residence IS pretty screwed up!
Then to find out that no one in the car was armed... oh thats not good at all.
The cop was undercover, they all were, and I thought one of them started to pull out a gun causing the men to attempt to flee the scene. I'd try to run over the bastard too! No way I'm gonna just let some guy stand in front of my car so that me and all my buddies get shot.
Usually one assumes people hanging around at strip clubs are not savory characters. Regardless of what kid of idiocy preceded the moment that the gun came out... once a gun comes out its fight or flight. Most of the time the best option is flight. A man you dont know pulls a gun on you and you think you have a chance to move... you're gonna move.

Al Sharpton has a racist history. Do u think he would have "come to the rescue" if the one who was killed was white? I think not. It is sad. I am not sure why the police fired so many bullets, but the groom was ramming his car into a policeman's car over and over again, maybe because he was intoxicated. I am sorry that the groom died, but shame on his family for bringing Sharpton into this-it is taking the groom's death in vain.

New York City ... is a very corrupt city. I should know. I'm from there and left. Hope never to return. From the very oldest, to the very youngest. It's tough, if not impossible, to find someone who is not essentially ... a criminal. Amid a vast host of accomplices. Color is immaterial. This man you cite ... Sharpton. You call him ' Reverend.' Why is that? See where I'm going with this?

Anyone surprised Sharpton is pulling the race card out of his sleeve, it's the only one up there. So what race are we accusing this time, looks like we've got all the usual suspects covered in this one.

They caused enough of a scene in the strip club for undercover officers to follow them to their minivan. When the officer tried to walk in front of the van, the driver hit him and then a parked car. I would say at least one officer's life was certainly in danger. Force was justified. Al sharpton is a joke that saw another opportunity to get more media so he can ask for more money.
