y= 3(10) + 5

does it mean the variable is y and its value is 35?

24= X+2

does this one mean the variable is x and its value is 20?

10= 2x + 4

does this one mean the variable is x and its value is 3?

I would say that is how you answer them... but only 1 problem with your work in #2... x= 22 not 20... but ya everything else looked right

y is the variable ( letter) so right the asnwer like
24=x+2
-2 -2
22=x
y= 3 (10) +5
y=30+5
y=35
10 = 2x +4
-4 -4
6+2x
divide by 2
3=x
so you'd write the answers
22=x, y=35, 3=x

the letter is always the variable, because it varies with each problem. Always try to get the variable alone on one side of the equation. You do this by doing the opposite thing on the other side. If it says plus 2, that means you subtract 2.

you're right on the first one.

24=x+2
24-2=x
22=x

10=2x+4
10-4=2x
6=2x
6/2=x
3=x

yeah it just basically means what # is the variable equal to,
so y=35, x=22, and x=3
