I don't know why they don't broadcast it live, does anyone know?

Since Smackdown is broadcast on Local TV. If something happens that shouldnt happen they could get a heavy fine.

ECW is often shown live, but Smackdown is on broadcast TV instead of cable. Because it is on broadcast TV, it is subject to a lot more regulations and thus need to be edited more carefully if something "indecent for broadcast TV" happens.

they are Smackdown airs on UPN on Fridays at 9 and ECW on Sci-Fi on Tuesdays and Thursdays around 10 or 11

ecw is live but sd is taped because it airs on network television which is governed by the FCC, and if something went wrong (such as when Edge and Lita had their live sex act on Raw and the covers fell off exposing Lita topless)
they would be in another Superbowl/Janet Jackson situation.
Raw is live on cable and it is not governed by the FCC, network executives make the decisions on what airs and what does not air. (That's how south park gets by with some of the stuff that they do so much)

Well I don't kniow where u live but where i live smackdown is on channel 53 and i watch it every friday and for ECW that's on friday at midnight on Global

cuz smack has rookies, who could mess up, and be aired on the free local station,
like cursing uncecored
nipple slips
certain camera angles
ect.
i dont know about ecw.... maybe botched moves
