it's a good idea

after all, the sp is the same exact system, but with better hardware. a backlit screen so you don't need an external source of light. a rechargable battery with a long life. and the overall shape of the SP is, in my opinion, superior to the handlebar style of the GBA

you will still be able to connect to their games, if you've got games that are multiplayer.

if you meant to say DS, that's another story. the DS is not able to communicate with the GBA - but it does have the engine to run GBA games. it doesn't have the 5volt thing to run older games though.

I'm pretty 100% sure that she's not talking about a DS. The SP has the clamshell screen, so your screen will stay protected compared to the original GBA model. But, I've heard complaints of the buttons being too close together, making for an awkward playing position for some gamers.
SP runs on rechargeable, making it sort of a gain and loss (good for everyday playing, but can by haphazard on long-distance trips with not much charging in between, i.e. plane flights).

That's about it, really. Runs the same games, links the same way, and all that, but there's a light, clamshell, rechargeable batts., and the buttons are closer together. Oh, and one other thing, the headphone jack is missing. Just if you like to listen to all the MIDI files and bloops/blips of GBA games.

But take this as a warning: don't get the gameboy micro. There's a lot more lost than gained with that investment, let me tell you from experience.

an sp is the same as a gba except it doesn't need AA batteries, has a backlit screen, and the screen wont get scratched as easily. if u play wit ur friends on it it wont be different. if u dont u could also get a ds. it plays gba game and ds games(of course).

Well...it's really up to you if you want one. I have and advance too...but i feel embarrassed around my friends when I play it because they all have either DS or SP.

What is an sp? are you talking about a ds? nvm(nevermind) well, if you wanna get an "sp" then you can get one . if you're willing to save money , then don't buy one. but, if you get an "sp" , don't rub it in your friends just because they don't have one. hope that helps =)
