Changes in carburettor technology were the reason for the change.
The 1981 T140 E- Executive model was equipped with twin Bing constant- vacuum carburettors in place of the standard Amals.
In 1982 in the T140 range; the TSS had Amals and the TSX had twin Bings.
Current production Triumph motorcyles do not use Bing or Amal carbs.
