It gives white people a chance to say the word without saying it. "I would never say the N word." But you thought it otherwise you wouldn't know what N stands for.

by saying "the N word" it gives censorship to the ideas which are attached to it much like when they dub a movie with food words instead of the actual curse word ex bologna for sh** also, what i just did with the asterisks is the same idea. though i am expressing what i want to say i am doing it in a vague manner so the effect is not as powerful as it would be if i wrote the uncensored word. so saying "the N word" hasn't, to me, taken the place of the word since it cannot stir the same emotions as it would have if said bluntly. however, i agree completely with you that we can use it to suggest racism making it vague and subliminal.

in addition, the actual word meant black (the color) ans we have transformed it to the "n word" so in a sense you are correct that "the N word" has taken the place of the actual word.

The N Word is just a reminder of a time when men preyed upon men placing the weaker into slavery and those men whom thought that difference was less than them selves and they were superior.
How am I today responsible for what an ancestor did 150 years ago?
It’s not a matter of taking away the N word but forgetting the memory of a bad time in history. The N word is a demeanor against humankind. It truly doesn't need to be used for the use of it shows no love in him that uses it.
Love your neighbor as you would your self.

(Rom 13:10) Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.

I think racism is terrible, but political correctness is a close second!!

If you can't say the phrase 'the "n" word' what do you say?

'The word that starts with the letter after "m" word'

It is all crazy

I'm so sick of that topic. Jesse Jackson has nothing better to do with his life. As long as one "n-word" continues to call other "n-words" the "n-word," the "n-word" hasn't taken the place of the word "******." Bunch of hypocrites. As if I or you walk around calling other white people "honkey," "cracker," or "whitey."

****** is the n word and the word u shouldnt say or else ull get shot it means stupid person . ***** is a word used by african americans to reference to another african american or a freind.
the phrase n word is really only used by whites who are afraid of bad consequences that never happen. i also think that racism is terrible and that EVERYBODY should be equals and color doesnt make a difference at all. and i think ****** is a word that should NEVER be used at all by anybody

No. But it has taken the place of saying "quote" and "Unquote" before and after the word. (or doing that obnoxious "air quote" gesture with one's fingers)

No. no one runs around saying... " you damn n-word"! It's a reference by which people can say the word was used without saying it.

It is quite disingenuous to say that when it is blatantly obvious what is really being said. Why not just be honest and say it?
