Why is everyone uncomfortable with the fact that we have no free will?

or at least that it is very limited.

because we have been told we have it. and most people just believe what they are told without questioning it.

I don't know why you think that. I, personally have chosen many different paths, some right and some wrong. It was my chose, nobody was making those decisions for me.
