Alexander Litvinenko was a Russian secret agent who fell into disfavour - so fled Russia and claimed political asylum in the UK. Recently he was poisoned with polonium (a radioactive element, which is very deadly), after a meeting with two former KGB agents, and later died. My question is, what makes Vladimir Putin (the president of Russia) think that he has the right to poison people in a foreign country? More disturbingly, how powerful and autocratic must Putin be that he thinks he can get away with things like this - combine this to the fact that Putin openly admits he was proud of the time he served in the KGB himself, does this give us reason to fear this new Russia?

Putin hasn't been found guilty of course - and he never would be, he's far too clever to have even the tiniest trace of evidence to point to him. But circumstantial evidence points that he had a hand in it.

Uh yes we should fear Russia, Putin has quickly worked at moving Russia into a police state.
That other journalist was shot execution style not long ago for daring to tell the truth about the Chechyn rebels.
Dont cross Putin, he was KGB after all.

Also even more reason for the US to watch Putin and Russia, before we invaded Iraq, there were talks to get the sanctions lifted off of Saddam and he would have been able to freely sell his oil, Russia was one of three countries he was in talks with to have the rights to that oil.

KGB has more imperceptible ways to kill it's disfavoured spy. So I think it was not KGB.
You should not fear Russia. Russians don't want any war because in XX century about 30 millions russians died in the World War 2. Russia don't need new territory - it's today territory it quite enough for 140 millions people.

The break down of the Soviet Union was the result of economic necessity and not a sudden rise in new (western) values. The changes over the last 25 years are as substantial as Putin's hairline.

Putin's Russian leadership is evil. President Bush has known this for some time. All of us should know the extent of their evil by observing their selling of nuclear secrets, weapons, and anything anybody wants, all for the sake of power and money.
If only Americans would look around the world at the real evil beings instead of sitting around and not giving our government credit for truly protecting the US and Israel to the best of their ability. I am afraid of Russia and I am ashamed of my fellow Americans who spend their time bickering about bs.

The way the war on terror is running ahead of events I am more concerned to where WE are heading rather than Russia.
