Lol. Taking the price out makes it a different situation. To answer your second question, yes, I think it can play PS2 and PS1 games. I personally think you should get a Nintendo Wii. Taking the price out, it really depends on the games you like. If you're between 8-13, you might want Nintendo Wii. It has many Mario games, and games that are not as voilent as PS games. Now, PS games are for people around 15/16 +. They have more sports and voilent fighting or gun-shooting games. Not all of them are like this, but more of them are. i'm taking this based on the nintendo gamecube and PS2 games I've seen. Each can play games of it's older version. Nintendo Wii can play games for: Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Gamecube. PS3 can play games for PS1, PS2. Now, PS3 can also be a DVD and CD Player, and I am not sure if Nintendo Wii can do that. I own a Nintendo Gamecube, and I am really a Nintendo fan. I've heard that PS3 controllers have so many buttons, and are harder to control. Now, I've given you the pros and cons. You have to decide now: Wii or PS3? Don't just buy what others tell you to buy. Do a little research, ask a few questions, and find what best meets your needs (When searching, look at games. they're a big help at deciding which cosole to buy). Good luck =).

As stated by others, all PS3's can play PS1 video games, yet purely the first and 2d gen PS3's might want to play the PS2 video games from the discs. some video games from both the PS1 and PS2 are accessible in on the psstore, although, and those video games will be performed on any PS3.

heres some advise . i got the wii so i could wait until next year for the new ps3 to come out cause i heard that a slim version of the ps3 will come out by next christmas and the price will drop. there will be more games available and all the glitches will be fixed .so thats some thing smart to do . DONT BE LIKE DOES SONY FANBOYS. GET THE WII FIRST THEN IN A YEAR WHEN THE PRICES DROP AND MORE GAMES R AVAILABLE THEN YOU CAN GET THE PS3.REMEMBER THAT THE SLIM PS2 WAS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL ITS GOING TO BE THE SAME WIT THE SLIM PS3.

well i think you should get the wii. The ps3 complained about how xbox360 only had 200 titles that was backward compatible but then there are only about 200 ps2 games that are able to be played on the ps3. So basiclly not all games can be played on the ps3. The wii on the other hand can play games all the way down to nes. and you can also have ports for the game cube controller.

okay if price isnt an isuue definately go with ps3- its a lot more powerful, the graphics are WAY better- besides, the only reason most people want to get a wii is for that stupid super smash bros brawl, and theres only 5 new characters in it. The controller's not that great i mean come on. Go with ps3 for much better graphics more power and more fun, and by the way for nintendo-how is waving a controller fun?
and no i dont think ps3 plays earlier games but ps3 games will rock anyway- it might be able to, not sure

Get what u want,,yes it plays ps1 and 2 games on it,,At wal-mart a ps3 is 500 dollars and at best buy the wii is 250 dollars,,my dad and i won a ps3 on the radio 106.1 kiss FM ,,but i would say i would go 4 a wii.

I would recommend the PS3, partly because its better than the Wii.
The PS3 only plays about half (8,000) of the (16,000) games.
