Perhaps you have heard of the story about the Holiday Wreath.
If not, this is basically what happened/happening.
A person decides to hang a mistletoe in the form of a wreath (peace symbol) on her house.
The community doesn't like it and decide to try to charge her $25 dollars a day until she takes it down.
They think it might be to protest the war in Iraq or something.
The Board of Whatever refused to fine her saying it was a decoration and all 5 members were fired.

By the way, i just looked this up, it's not the community, it's a homeowner's association, and the committe members got fired for not fining her.
And addition to thinking it might be to protest the war in Iraq, some people say it's a sign of Satan (WHAT?, it's a peace sign!)

they have a real thing there now about freedom of expression !!!
Stuns me to this moment that we call ourselves Americans
say we believe in the Constitution
say that the men and women that are in Iraq are fighting for a thing called Freedom (which does include the freedom of speech and the freedom of expression)
and then we have something like this occur here !!
We are rapidly deterirating into a place where the central government IS the master of our thoughts and the preveyor of all that we should do and say---to express another view is to be something of an enemy of the state, and then by association, the people--MY HAT IS OFF TO THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR JOBS OVER THIS---I THINK THEY SHOULD RUN FOR CONGRESS !!!!

I saw the story. There is absolutely nothing offensive about the decoration. As far as the question of the jurisdiction of the so-called "homeowners association" goes, I can think of nothing more to say about this phenomenon except that the renter of an apartment has more rights in most places in America than the victim of a "homeowners association" has. They really should call themselves "voluntary police-state associations". Communism is alive and thriving in America, thanks to this concept!

I think it is ridiculous. How in the world does this have any satanic message? It is a peace sign. People are way to sensitive anymore about everything. Good for those board members for standing their ground. I applaud all of them.

In my opinion, anyone who chooses to purchase a home in a housing development that allows restrictions to be placed upon personal freedom of expression deserves what he or she gets in the way of monetary fees, ect.
What kind of fool would surrender his or her own right to freedom of expression in order to live in a nice house? If he or she doesn't like the rules agreed upon, then he or she ought to sell the house and buy one where restrictions are not an issue.

the lady was not expressing any thing but peace for the season. the sixies were filled with peace signs and no one made us take them down because of the vietnam war. let it stay...
