Life is becoming harder becouse we as a society are putting pressure on ourselves to be high wage earner, perfect parents, fit, to have a big car, house etc. We are preoccupied with money and material objects. People tend to be constantly "busy" and don't know how to relax unless it involves an extravagent and expensive holiday. On top of that we are constantly striving to keep up with the advances in technology as well as keeping up with"the jones". Basically in my opinion our priorities are all mixed up and so life seems to be getting harder.

Interesting. Life is actually the same as it has always been. It begins, ascends to a peak of fitness, ability and potency, then declines until the end. As it does so, the lifeforce which is god, plugs us into a river of fulfillment which we may use for the betterment of ourselves or others, or we can waste it with petty diversions that impede our progressive evolution. At every point in our history, we have been given various challenges, from having to hunt to survive to finding work at Wendy's while writing a doctoral thesis. It's always been hard. But, when we actively work toward a goal, it makes all the effort worth the struggle.

Because people set too many unrealistic and idealistic goals for themselves and they're bound to fall flat on their faces .... the American media feeds into these fears as well and makes the situation worse. We're taught that goals are good, but people don't understand it's about BABY STEPS.
You must learn to accept yourself just as you are, no matter what. You do not need to fix so many circumstances around you. It doesn't matter even if you totally screw-up. In this very moment, you are perfect simply because you exist.
It's this kind of passive Buddha-like acceptance of yourself that enables us to have a peace of mind about things.

As one grows older he/she is takes a more nuanced approach to life as it gradually becomes clearer that we inhabit the grey areas and that clearly demarcated black and white realities are hard to come across. One is more open to take in the problematic aspects of life that escape the perception of the child.
