some things I've given my bf (obviously it depends on the guy and the relationship to how soppy you can be!) are...

a trail all around the city of clues to a wicked hotel room (warning some clues may disappear!) or other (cheaper) place like a restaurant, or a free place like a beach bonfire etc

DVD of his favorite thing (mines really into nature shows so i got him the brand new David Attenbourgh, then snuggled up under a blanket with some wine to watch it)

a little book on every page written a reason why you love him!

something practical that shows you have thought about him - my bf really feels the cold, but likes to go out walking, so i got him long johns, scarf, hand warmer thing etc only cost a few quid each but showed id payed attention, and cared if he was warm or not! its useful too now he wears them all the time and says they remind him of me. also we went out for a long walk to enjoy them which added to the present!

i hate 'hippy' shops (which he knows), but he loves them, so i went to all the hippiest shops i could find and got things he would like but i would hate (hippy soaps, food, random little bits and bobs) and wrapped each and put them in a old box, again each thing only cost a few quid but showed id put myself out (same works if they're into football, cars etc and you aren't!)

pamper them for a change-run a nice bath, play their favorite tunes, have a hot towel and a favorite meal ready, put a hot water bottle in the bed, watch their favorite film, take them to their favorite bar and buy their favorite drink (or just stay in...!) its pretty much free too!

make a picnic and eat it inside if its cold out, get a proper blanket and everything! its silly but fun!

go out and buy, beg, borrow or steal everything you can find with their name on it-chocolate, street signs, packaging, stupid but somehow cute!

take a digital camera about with you for a day and take photos of your day so 'they can be there too' or special places you shared, or places they like etc. print a few (they are pretty cheap to get printed now) or just make a CD!

make some silly thing for them, a cake or biscuits spelling their name, or in a shape of something they like, my bf loves his dog, i live on a beach, and we always collect shells, so i made him a dog from the shells we collected. silly but fun!

I bought a satellite radio for my boyfriend. The unit cost $29.00 + tax then I got him a 3 month subscription around $13/month. You could do one month which would make it more economical.

Another idea could be a gift card for iTunes. Everyone loves music and now he can download movies, TV shows, etc. You could set the limit at whatever you want.

You could always go with something he'd really use, like a nice comfy pair of pajamas or warm up type pants that you could get anywhere from marshalls, target, and macy's to olympia sports and abercrombie. :o)

A homemade card and homemade treats like brownies, fudge, or cookies are always appreciated :o).

You could make him a scrap book of all the pictures the two of you have taken and write little things about each one :o)

A mix cd of songs that the two of you listen together or songs that remind you of each other.

Gourmet coffee and a mug? A teeshirt? How about a framed picture of the two of you?
