If you do choose to confront her try to be as tactful and non confrontational as possible still getting the point across. I don't think, if it is truly a compulsion, there is anything you can do to convince her to get help. That is honestly something she is going to have to see a problem with and seek the help herself. Kinda like an Alcoholic, you can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.

This can be a difficult problem to solve. What you really need to get her to understand is that defecting doesn't work. That is to say, if EVERYONE lied, the world would be a very miserable place, and that she can't expect everyone else to go on being honest and let her lie her way through her life. Make her understand that in the end she's only making it worse for herself by destroying her credibility. If she has enough sense to count as a friend, she should realize what you're talking about eventually.

I have a friend like this and she gets on my nerves a LOT.
Sometimes she'll lie about some guy liking her, and them having called her while I was in the shower to profess their love.
I try not to let it get to me. I've always just let it go in the past.
As long as her lying isn't hurting you or herself, then I would let it go. You won't want to chance ruining a friendship because of something like this, would you?

Compulsive lying is a sign of abuse. Ask her how she's getting treated at home. It's not foolproof though, other people can lie, too; but it's a place to start.

You cant be nice when u tell someone to stop lying. Say it straight out because if she keeps on lying someone might say something far more mean then what you can come up with.

Don't do anything. If she wants to change herself she will do it alone. Just, when she is lying to you try to show to her that you understand her lies so you can't deal with them.
