Ask them if they are trying to get even for having such a small seat to sit in, by taking up yours too? At least give me some breathing room please, or I could just sit on your lap if you would like? Maybe instead of eating your next meal you could spend the time writing a letter to the Govenor on resizing to fit all? I feel very embarassed for the obese person when witnessing them trying to fit in a plane seat, literally lifting and tucking all necessary rolls into place... usually unable to breathe in the process!! Next time buy Two seats next to each other just to save face... One size doesn't always fit all...

Probably something like, "Pardon me, wouldn't you be more comfortable in my seat instead?" While saying it, I would get up and start moving as if I were going to switch seats. A thick (in the head) person might not get the implied complaint, but a more with-it person might accept in order to save face and not have to hear the inevitable and soul-killing (and all too familiar no doubt!) complaints that he or she needs to buy two tickets or lose a bunch of weight, etc. I'm sure the obese person KNOWS he or she is obese without having to hear it again.

Oh, forgot to choose a letter--that'd be closest to "B" with a bit of "C" thrown in.

I would definitely respond with a gentled-down version of B. If the person does not fit in the space provided then they need to move to a seat where they fit comfortably with whomever may be sitting there. I am not the martyr type to suffer in silence and since I was there first, I should not have to be the one who moves. Most people respond to honest communication as long as it is given gently and respectfully.

do you elect to get arrested for attack? Why could you kick somebody in the groin for being obese and sniffing their hands? How does that impact you? And what makes you think of there will be a next time? Do you intend to sit down down next to this guy or woman every time you journey the bus?

A. They can't help what their size is at that particular moment. Overweight people are usually very conscious about their squeezing other people. Just put up with it or move to another seat without comment.

D- Had it happen to me. I told them "this isn't going to work", they let me out, I found another seat. It also happened on a flight this summer, NO other seats were available. We made the stewardess put this person crammed against the window. Tough cookies. That was crap, the person should have bought two tickets for two seats. I REFUSE to put up with that inconvenience, I spent my money.

A - I had this happen a while back. Unfortunately I had to suck it up and sit there as there were no other seats left. I probably wouln't have said anything anyway as I'm just not the type. Oh well.
