I am a mom to grown children....the best present I can ever receive from them is their presence on Christmas day. We live far apart, and seldom have the time to spend with each other. So if at all possible, spend the day with her....and tell her you love her.

I can understand - my son has the same problem. I don't think it's "things" that moms want. As much as you can, just show us you still care and love us, visit us as frequently as you can, help us when called upon to. This should be sufficient. Present? maybe take us to a meal or bring some flowers/plant. If you feel rich, give us a little cash from time to time so we can get stuff we need from time to time.

Get her a gift card to a local spa..You don't have to go all out if you're on a budget, most spas have packages throughout a wide price range or you could just pick one or two services for her. Just a facial and manicure and pedicure, or one of the lower priced massages would probably be appreciated by your mom.
Even the littlest bits of pampering make a HUGE difference, especially around the holidays when we can all be especially stressed!
Good luck and happy holidays! :)

Give her a voucher for your services, pick out a few really "I hate doing" chores, or a gardener for a few hours, favourite magazine subscription. I mostly agree with the time and presence answers. Good luck!
As for you copterfix....I'm Australian and living in a democratic country, therefore I call my mother MUM and if it gets up ya nose, well TOUGH LUCK MATE!

How about putting together a gift basket of a video, some hot chocolate, a fluffy pair of socks...sort of a 'night at home' gift.

You should get her a really good scented candle! Mom's always love candles! Or maybe like a decoration for her flowerbed or for the house!

A picture frame with some old photo's restored, like maybe a picture of your mothers parents, or you as a child.

perchance if she's a cunning human being, she will make you something? perchance a bracelet...that is what my mom did for me. It change into lovable and reduce priced. it really is a crocheted bracelet with lovable little beads.
