Two guys on an annual road trip. One guy has just left behind a difficult situation after finding out his hot neighbor is his new supervisor and she is a single parent to boot. He moved into town, accepted a job via Monster.com, met his neighbor, really likes her, and then after a nice long week of getting settled in, and getting to know his beautiful neighbor, he heads to work to find she is his new boss.
Any ideas?

he still pursued her. she accepted him. They got married after a year of dating. had 2 kids. the wife remained to be the boss, he never got promoted. they end up having divorce.
im just being realistic. sorry!!!! most women nowadays end up divorcing their lower earning hubbies.

If you're writing this short story based on similar events in your life go off on a tangent and let your imagination take hold. Since it's fiction, you can write it as you want and take joy during the dialogue that must come between the supervisor and the protagonist.
Try to surprise the reader.

How long is this short story, sounds like a novel to me.
Ok. He walks in crosses his legs on top of her desk and with a wicked smile says "So, how big a raise am I looking at?"
