The protagonist of a story is the character who does the most and whom the story follows the most. Also known as 'hero' or 'main character'.

The antagonist is the character who is set in conflict with the protagonist. Some stories may not have antagonists. They are also known as 'villains' or sometimes just 'bad guys'.
