Between 14 and 16 weeks is when the sexual organs normally form. They normally do an ultrasound between 18 and 20 weeks this allows time for many of the vital organs to have formed but also allows them to check the baby before it gets so large that it will be curled up in the fetal position making it harder to get measurements and tell the gender.

The average usually around 5 months! I know the wait is the hardest, but I chose not to know with my first one. It did help me to push harder to find out what it was! I only pushed 3 times! Happily I had a little babygirl! yaye Good Luck!

Usually around 20 weeks they will schedule an ultrasound. I believe they also can do an amnio around 18 weeks (I think) but unless a problem is suspected I wouldn't do an amnio.
