If you are planning to work for yourself as a writier, you don't HAVE to take any courses. If you are planning to work as a college teacher as many writers do, you better go for a doctorate--probably one in English from a top university would be a good idea.

definately english compostion classes and reading analysis classes, as well as socialogical classes and most likely some sort of pscycology class.
