Definitely Edinburgh Castle and Ghost Tours. Holyrood too, if you can - Palace, not Parliament, though the parliament is supposed to be very good too.

In Glasgow, the Burrell Collection is amazing, Buchanan Galleries and the Kelvin grove Museum.

Sorry, but 'Culture' and 'Nightlife' do not really go together in Scotland. There is a lot of both, but not necessarily in the same place or at the same time. This all depends on your own outlook. One man's culture is another man's turn-off. Look in the newspapers for more info. (Glasgow Herald possibly)

I would do one of the ghost tours in Edinburgh. They are a bit hoaky, but a lot of fun. (No we didnt see any ghosts) The castle in Edinburgh is a must. The Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow is one of the coolest museums I have ever visited. Find someplace to get some good haggis! It rocks. Seriously.

Do go up the Scott Monument in Edinburgh. The top stair is real squeezy. Good manners is essential up there. But its fun.

Go to the Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh for lunch in their rooftop restaurant. It is reasonable but classy. The two course lunch for £9.95 is excellent.
