I am looking for something upeat and modern. my voice range is pretty much anwhere from 2nd Alto to 2nd soprano, but if needed i can go higher. Im just looking for a fun song to do that will accentuate my voice. Thank you in advance!

How about "Bali High" from South Pacific?

I was just at an audition today and as I was 57th to go I saw a LOT of strong female songs. One song that completely showed off someone's range I felt, though, was "There Won't Be Trumpets" from I believe Anyone Can Whistle. It goes from a very soft soprano-y voice to full on belting and sounded amazing. I'm not sure what kind of show you're auditioning for but I was going for Fiddler, and that one worked really well. I personally sang I'm in Love with a Wonderful Guy from South Pacific and it worked out well also. But really there's an endless number of great songs for girls.

You must be a beginner and not very knowledgeable about auditions. It's those "off the wall random broadway stupid songs" that most people who audition a LOT are looking for because the producers or judges get tired of hearing songs from Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story... so it's those "off the wall" pieces that people like me offer to them. Sorry you don't appreciate the effort.. So... here is my list of suggestions for you BIG SPENDER... sweet charity I'M JUST A GIRL WHO CAN'T SAY NO.. Oklahoma CABARET... cabaret I FEEL PRETTY.. West Side story HELLO YOUNG LOVERS,. the King and I Hope you can use them.

I'm a 2nd alto-2nd soprano too, and here are some of my favorite audition songs:
"I'd Give My Life For You"--Miss Saigon (pretty ballad-y, but very emotional)
"Gimme, Gimme"--Thoroughly Modern Millie (The end is upbeat)
"I Speak Six Languages"--25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (very upbeat and fun)
"Astonishing"--Little Women (The ending is upbeat, and it's belt-y)

Yup, that's all I got. Break a leg!

The Pajama Game has some good female vocals...i know that i am a belter...and those could be sung in a belting voice, or head...which ever your more comfy in. But yes good ol' musicals are a good way to go and everyone knows them! Break a Leg!

Try to pick something in the vein of the show you're auditioning for, but not FROM the show you're auditioning for. AVOID anything from Wicked, the song "Tomorrow" from Annie... these things are oversung to the point of absurdity and directors do NOT want to hear them again.
I like to sing either "The Man I Love" (ballad-y, slower, Gershwin), or "Love Me or Leave Me" (more upbeat), but these are jazz pieces, and though they work for musical auditions, you might want a bona fide showtune for the audition.
Look into:
"That'll Show Him" from "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum",
"A Trip to the Library" from "She Loves Me", and
"I Wish I Were in Love Again" from "Babes in Arms".

s good upbeat song on Broadway now would be Popular. It is a bit over done so lets go with something older and not done as often. Like something from Rogers and Hammerstein.

"Falling in Love With Love" from Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella is upbeat, and shows your range.

Good luck!

The one with which you are most comfortable singing, and shows your vocal skills at your best.
