Ok,my fiance killed a small scorpion this morning but I didn't believe him,like 5 minutes ago,I saw one and he killed it.I'm so terrified now,because we have a 2 year old and he loves playing with bugs and ants and things and I don't want him playing with these things.Could there be a nest in my house?How do I get rid of them? Can they seriously hurt us? I need all the info I can get.Thanks.

despite popular belief about scorpions, they are really not as violent as one would think. in most cases you would actually have to provoke a scorpion to attack, but in your case, a child is very likely to try to play with a scorpion, which would be highly likely to cause the scorpion to feel threatened and attack.

Scorpions are difficult to control with pesticides alone. Therefore, the first control strategy is to modify the area surrounding a house.
Remove all trash, logs, boards, stones, bricks and other objects from around the home.
Keep grass closely mowed near the home. Prune bushes and overhanging tree branches away from the house. Tree branches can provide a path to the roof for scorpions.
Store garbage containers in a frame that allows them to rest above ground level.
Never bring firewood inside the house unless it is placed directly on the fire.
Install weather-stripping around loose fitting doors and windows.
Plug weep holes in brick veneer homes with steel wool, pieces of nylon scouring pad or small squares of screen wire.
Caulk around roof eaves, pipes and any other cracks into the home.
Keep window screens in good repair. Make sure they fit tightly in the window frame.
Wettable powder formulations provide better residual control for crawling pests when applying perimeter sprays. When using pyrethroids or other insecticides labeled for scorpion control, be sure to use the highest permissible label rate.
Apply pesticides around the foundation of the building and up to 1 foot above ground level on the exterior walls. Also apply pesticides around doors, window eaves and other potential points of entry.
Cyfluthrin, bifenthrin, deltamethrin, and bendiocarb are effective pesticides.[3]

I'm not very smart on scorpians but I read somewhere (i'm sorry I don't remember where exactly) that scorpians usually only come in twos. What I mean is that if you find one there is usually another near by, and usually no more than two, unless you *as others have already said* Have a dark, dank basement, or live near a marsh, or wetland. But like I said I'm not an expert or anything and i'm not positive that this is true or just a rumor, but I thought i'd let ya know. =) Also, if you are really worried you can bomb your house. They sell Bug Bombs at Wal-Mart or any local Super Market that only take a few hours to kill any species of bugs in your house.

my best info would be to check all over the house for any scorpions or holes and/or nests in the floors or tiles or the walls and if you find any then call an exterminator or pest control to dispose of it, or you could see if you have any in your backyard and just keep your 2 year old away from it for a while and call an exterminator or pest control and search on the internet about scorpions and the first aid and how to avoid them thats about all i can tell you

Scorpions generally hang out in dark moist areas like basements or the basements of new houses. I had to teach my 3 year old grandson not to pick up every insect and spider he sees because he likes to pick up anything. I bought him some rubber ones and told him they are his or if I let him hold one but otherwise he has to come show me what he finds because some of them are oweees! You probably have your own terminology to use.

do you live by a marsh? they typically like to hide and live in marshes or near water perhaps....most scorpions have a little sack that hangs off they're tails, which carries poison, not harmful, but it feels like a bee sting. and getting rid of them, maybe call an exterminatior.

Many scorpians are threat free, some at the instantaneous are not. proper to call an exterminator. i have self belief they deal with this variety of issue in many situations...and likewise provide you with sturdy suggestion on a thanks to shop them out and/or a thanks to evade them. sturdy success.
