I don't get it. So why do some non-blacks want the right to say the n-word so badly? Why can’t they just leave it alone? It really is the one thing that black people can do that non-blacks can’t and I guess for some non-black people, that gets to them. I have never heard a non-black person argue for the right to say any other racist term, the way they argue for the right to say the N-word. And cracker is not the equivalent of the N-word even though it is offensive. Cracker, Dark chocolate, vannilla puddin, yellow rice are about equivalent. Cracker is a food you can eat. The N-word is something you cannot eat and it's second or rather first meaning means a stupid and/or less intelligent person. White people where the first to use the word though, maybe they want to connect with there ancestors? I am black and I refuse to use any racial slur no matter how mad you make me, we have no choice of the race we are born.

"Why do so many blacks use it?"

There is your problem! You say many say it, that not true, just cause rappers and comedians use it doesn't mean we all use it!

"Why can a race have a word that no other race can use without fear of retribution?"

Why is one word troubling you? One word. You can only insult with it. It makes you look bad when you use it. It's terrible to use that word. And the meaning is not just about the color of skin, it means your race culture and meanings are the lowest of low.

particular words carry this kind of "vile" spirit, they could instantly create a reaction in others. words flux in our language at the same time as it includes this "spirit" and think ofyou've got stated it. What at the moment might want to correctly be effective, the following day, you may want to in up in reformatory over. The political correctness of particular words have pushed them into being a federal offence for putting forward them each and every so usually. And the placement with them??......the "spirit" or emotion that is in the back of them. human beings get killed making use of them. yet frequently only a social grace, of varieties. An intelligent English-speaking person has a vocabulary of about 400,000 words. They can utter those words in any order they choose. And yet, you chose to present these particular words in this particular order. Hm.

Has it ever occurred to you that in order to be accepted as a member of society (not accepted as a black member of society, or a brown or yellow or whatever member - just a member of society) all you have to do is to maneuver into the mainstream? That really means just drop the defensive attitude, ignore the morons, and celebrate the fact that you're as brilliant as anyone.

If you prefer to keep the defensive wall up and make your life all about what race you are, you'll keep finding offense in imagined slights your whole life. And that's a sad way to live, my friend. Sad indeed.

Why can a race have a word that no other race can use without fear of retribution?

I do not use the word. I used to listen to a lot of rap and heard the word all the time, so the word has been imbedded in my head. God forbid it ever slip out.

I have a pretty diverse circle of friends and none of them use the word. Perhaps if black folks would stop using it, it would go away all together.

i dont know why they do

one time my white friend said it at six flags and i slaped him so hard his face turned purple for 2 hours

i told him i was sorry but i also said i was doing him a favor. i know he didnt mean it (he was listing to some rap cd)but if he said that around black people when i wasent there he could get realy ****** up or killed. i felt bad hitting my friend but if it would help him in the long run so be it. people should just stop saying it along with every other racial slur.

your know you lost a argument when you have to use racial slurs and talk about their mamma.

I'm a "non-black" i'm acctually Hispanic/Latina whatever you wanna call it. And Blacks are quick to call me and my race names. So why ***** because someone else is doing it to you. People really just need to grow up. & honestly I don't think it will ever change no matter how big the issue is. Its called " The freedom of Speech" and people will use it for and dumb excuse.

I never use the word. It's foul, like saying the eff-word in front of a bunch of grandmothers and little kids.

There are millions, and I mean millions, of non-black people who never think or say the n-word and who don't hate blacks or asians or any other ethnic group. There are millions of us. Look for us instead of seeing racists everywhere. Your life will be happier.

Maybe to get a rile out of black people. If there wasn't a payoff for these people (the ones who use the N word), then there would be no reason to use it because it wouldn't give them pleasure if no one reacted to it.

Because they want to be amongst your ranks. To them you are way cooler than they can be. They've heard black guys using the word, they're cool, so the white boys try it on in hopes it will make them more of who they want to be.
