why are teachers so mean? sometimes?

it seems like teachers are mean some times now i have to admit that alot of my teachers are nice but some are really mean you would think that since they might have had mean teachers they would be nicer right and i know they have to get us to learn but cant they do it in a nicer way to help us learn in a more nicer inviroment-a confuzed person

This question is childish in the extreme. Teachers might sometimes show they are "mean" because they are employees that have to contend with a lot of pressures of the job. That is something that you, as a student, would not know about.

You've had teachers before that I'm sure were great, so you know not all teachers are like this. It sounds like you have a teacher that I would NEVER want to be like. The "oh no blacks and Hispanics only have an 8th grade reading level" comment is terrible. I assume the teacher has the reading scores from your reading test the year before but for the teacher to say this is totally wrong. If it is true, it isn't something the teacher should share with the students. This is what I would say: there are mean people in most every profession. As a teacher, I have had coworkers that have literally made me cry. Teachers who are not liked by any of the other teachers in the school. but that is also true when I was a sales rep and when I worked in an office. There are some simply mean people out there. What you must do is recognize all the things this person does that is mean and you should endeavor to never be so rude to ANYONE in the future. Any all of us really do feel like our subject is the most important! That has nothing to do with being mean and everything having to do with knowing our subjects and their importance in the working world. But OBVIOUSLY English is the most important ;P

i think being a teacher would be one of the hardest jobs on the face of the earth and so stressful and i honestly believe that some people that are teachers should nt teach because if you are mean to your students they will not like you or respect you and the student wont learn from that either because who would want too and also a mean teacher couldnt like what they do and a good teacher makes it enjoyable to learn and when you are a teacher you are suppose to be a mentor not a pain in the assssssssssssss CC

Some teachers are mean sometimes because they care about the students. The students may not like them now, but down the line, years from now, they will thank them. Besides, students will have to get used to mean people (like professors, bosses, roommates, and the like).

maybe because the students are sometimes more mean? or they have something on their mind. You know, teachers are just people. They have a life outside the classroom and things maybe going on in their private lives that cloud their minds....cut them some slack once in a while...

i think if you had to contend with what most teachers have to deal with you would be mean also. I agree teachers should be very patient if the student is trying, but if the student is trying to be nasty then the teacher owes the student nothing .

yeah I know what you mean. Some teachers are mean because of their personalities towards getting the kids educated.

Lots of students to deal with--personal conflicts--some see great potential in students and those students don't seem to care. It could be many things. Don't take it personally--unless it is put personally upon you.
