Coffee makers are easy to fix, but the price of a new one keeps falling, so it's worth replacing.

How about Automobile tires?

tires;you can't fix them
my laptop; if it's really broken then it's cheaper to get a new 1(plus I have a warranty)
my tv; it's cheaper to get a new 1(its a cheap tv)
my glasses; they're old
shoes; who fixes shoes?

1. Toothpick. Replacement cost of one from a package is advantageous over practicalities of repair.
2. Condom. Reliability issues with repairs.
3. Shower curtain liner. The aesthetic devalue of a repaired liner means Kmart here I come.
4. Doritos. It is a product that can still be consumed without a difficult repair.
5. Bottle of gin. It is a loss, can not be repaired.

All were replaced for the same reason: its cheaper and more convenient to replace than to repair.

hand mixer, iron, coffee maker, microwave, and crock pot---on all counts cheaper to buy new, rather than pay postage or have fixed
