I hate to break it to you, hun; but hampsters are a nocturnal animal - that's why some people have difficulties living with them because they have all their fun at night while you're trying to ignore them spitting their food down their little plastic tubes that they love to roam throughout! lol. I've had 7 at one point, so I learned it tenfold. lol. It's completely normal for yours to sleep that long; in fact, if he didn't do that, I'd be worried!

Hamsters tend to sleep about 12 hours a day, are nocturnal and solitary creatures. I have noticed over the years though, the older the hamster, the more it sleeps.

Yes! Hamsters are naturally nocturnal creatures. Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and heard it running on the hamster wheel? That's because predators would just make them into McNuggets during the day, so they hide until it's safe.

Rodents are affected by moon time unlike humans who generally run by sun time. When they can not see the sun or when tehy do not get much sunlight their bodies naturally switch to a 30 hour day.
You can help right this by putting the hamster in a sunnier spot, it may help to keep him awake more during the day and sleep more during the night.
Habitually, they will get used to being active during times when they are fed and get attention. so give it lots of attention during the day and not so much at night. Same goes for food!

Hamsters sleep plenty, and because they're nocturnal they're many times in straight forward words wide awake when we are no longer. She is growing older besides, and senior animals require better sleep. If she remains eating, ingesting, and playing and doesn't have the different indications of ailment which include wheezing, sneezing, or discharge from the eyes or nostril, she is likely purely effective! sturdy success which include your hamster!

yes I have one myself, and sometimes she'll sleep for at least 18 hours like yours. Sometimes I check on her and make sure nothing is wrong, but rodents are nocturnal and usually only come out at night. So she's probably doing all of her action while you're sleeping :)

Yep! (Kind of like cats- lol) They are nocturnal, too, so 6 hours of being awake are at night.
