I make wreaths, they are easy to do, and can be as simple or elaborate as I want.
This year I bought some beads, and I am stringing then in a 4" line, as a drop ornament. pearls, or glass or acrylic chandelier pieces look great, and it looks expensive.
Used to make my own ornaments, from kits, still have a few. Can't find that kind of kit anymore. One of my favs was a small Styrofoam ball, and long pins, and long clear bugle beads, and 2 sizes of stars. each pin was loaded with a bead, the small star, a bead, and the large star, with the large star ending up at the top outside of the pin, and repeated all over the ball. It was beautiful.
I made a tree skirt 2 years ago, the ones from the store were so expensive, and I could not find one I liked. I took a felt pre-made skirt, and a couple packages prepasted foam snowflakes, both in white, and stuck them around the bottom of the skirt. It is pretty, and I will make do with it until I find what I really want.
I have a fireplace, and a garland of artificial flowers on top of the firebox. I took a battery powered string of light, and threaded it through the garland of flowers. I get compliments on it.
Just a basket, with pine cones, nuts, and berries in it is pretty, and if a neighbor has a pine tree, cheap.
I also make pretty bows, I made one that looks like a butterfly. It went over well with the recipients.

It's getting a little late to start on crafts for Christmas, especially if you are not naturally crafty.
Something I made about 10 yrs ago for a church Christmas bazaar that everyone loved was to take a vase from the local thrift store. Fill it to the brim, alternating Christmas lights and potpourri. Then put a piece of lace on top to cover it and allow the scent to come through when the lights heated it up. Tie a ribbon over the rubber band that holds the fabric in place.
I was so allergic to the potpourri while making them but I had fun nonetheless.

Printing and framing nice seasonal pictures on photo paper can give rooms a whole new look. Perhaps framing old Christmas cards. There are some pretty nice ideas at this site as well: http://www.daniellesplace.com/HTML/christmas.html
Holly is a great decoration because of the underlying Christmas meaning -- the pointy holly leaves represent the crown of thorns Jesus wore, and the idea of evergreen plants symbolises his eternal life.
However, crafts only make your house look nice -- the real beauty comes from the love and joy inside of it. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas season. God bless! :)

I love anything Martha Stewart does, but I never seem to make anything. In July I tell myself I could start making stuff... but by Dec 10th I still haven't. I'd love to do a ginger bread house

In years past, I have always made the jars of cookies or brownie ingredients and attached the recipe. Then I would decorate the jars. Most people love getting them.
