a slope of a line (m) is found using this formula:
m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
substituting the information from your formula would give:
4 = (-5/4-(-1/4))/(r-(1/2))
4 = (-1)/(r-(1/2))
r-(1/2) = -1/4
r = 1/4
but you asked slope of a line...humm that is m which is 4.

If what you are trying to do is solve for "r", then r = 1/4

Quoting ViVo:
"m=rise/run = change in y/change in x = y2-y1/x2-x1"

In your case, you have
m=4
y2 = -5/4
y1= -1/4
x2 = r
x1 = 1/2

Solving for r you get 1/4

m=rise/run = change in y/change in x = y2-y1/x2-x1

which is 4-2/-1-1. which is 2/-2 slope is m = 2/-2

I'm not shure of the second one. If i know i'll probably answer you again (:
