What is EXACTLY the definition of anime? Does it have to be Japanese? Just because most people I know don't understand, I generally tell people "Cartoons are for children, anime is for grown ups." But I don't think I've ever heard the exact definition of anime.

anime is japanese cartoon. well it also has a western version. anime has alot if varieties doku..for kids shoujo...for girls shounen...for boys yuri...for lesbians yaoi..for thte queers there's alot more i just frorgot. u can say that anime has more meaning to it's stories... a bit more realistic than cartoons but still has thata japanese weirdness..hahhahaa

Anime is anything animated. That includes "cartoons." However, outside of Japan, anime is typically considered as Japanese animation.

'Anime' is the Japanese word for any kind of animation. So in Japan, it means anything animated. But in most parts of the world, it refers to Japanese animation.

anime comes from japan, i don't know if it HAS to to be considered anime, as there are some shows that are drawn in a very similar style that aren't from japan. anime is not just for adults, it can be for children too (pokemon, yugioh, ect.) it is just a wider range of subjects. a lot of shows that are made into anime are taken from manga (like our comic books) and made into shows. in japan they make comic books for all ages. very popular over there even for adults, men and women. you could also probably look up anime on wikipedia for a more clear cut definition to give people too.

THATS A REALLY GOOD QUESTION I BELIVE IT MEANS A JAPENESE CARTOON SHOW THAT IS VIOLENT AND NEEDS TO BE HAVE AN ADULT APPROVAL I GUESSIM NOT REALLY SURE!!!!!
