Living in a snall community means you will most likely know the police officers personally, you will meet your kids teachers at the store, you will know your neighbours, the people at the post office will know exactly where to deliver your mail to even if the address is not complete or is wrong, if your mail is accidentally delivered to your neighbour you are sure to get it that day. Although some prices may be higher shopping will be more pleasurable with the checkout worker being very genuine when they ask how you are and they will quickly get to know your name and they will use it. You will get to know personally many people in your community and you will feel a part of the community.

Of course there are many small towns here in Australia that are not large enough to have a police station, post office, or even school so if you are moving into one of these then you know that there are very few people in the town and you will get to know them all really well.

I was raised in a town of 9,000, got married and moved to the big city for 20 years. There was a lot of opportunity for my husband to build his skills in industry. Our oldest daughter began to date and there was no way to find out about the boys character. I was simply scared to death. Not long after that we moved back to our home town. The best place to find out who my daughters were dating. Big relief. The stores are close and not as much stress. The stress returns when we go to the big city to shop. Shopping in our small town leaves much to be desired. Love the small town best.
