If I have 2000 items that I need to assign upc codes to, would I pay more than say for 1000 items in registration fees?

Ok, if you have 2000 different types of items, then, yes I'd say you probably would. Depends on the company you're getting your codes from.

However, if they are 2000 of the same item, you only need 1 barcode. This is printed on all of the items. The UPC stays the same for each type of item. The printing costs for the labels, etc are all you'd pay, so registering more than a few hundred UPC's would be overkill.
