Where did the phrase "You're an airhead" come from?

Did you mean what country?
Because i don't know what country it came from, but it probably originated from the fact that air is sometimes seen as "empty" (even though it isn't, it seems that way)
which means...
air= empty
emptyhead= airhead.

Meaning there's nothing inside your head -- nothing but air. Hence, airhead.
