why does it piss down so often, in the British part of Europe

For the same reason it does in other countries. It is to do with the formation of clouds due to evaporation, and then it eventually falls back to earth as rain. I thought everybody knew that. I would much rather have our climate than live in a barren desert. You may also note that many parts of our country have drought regulations throughout the year due to the lack of rainfall.

It is not as often as you might think though! It only pisses twice a year for about 6 months.
