Minnelli's separation and subsequent divorce from Gest in 2003 has been fraught with controversy; the two have ongoing legal disputes. Prior legal matters were either resolved or dismissed, but in 2006, Gest filed further litigation against Minnelli, nearly three years after their divorce. A former employee of the couple has also alleged that Minnelli forced him to have sexual intercourse with her to retain his job.
Minnelli has accused Mr. Gest of trying to ride her in his sleep.
Mr. Gest has claimed Ms. Minnelli did not make him aware she was not enjoying it and that she had herpes simplex and sexually transmitted it to him. He also claims that she was violently abusive during alcoholic rages and force him to run around naked and dance in front of the fire.

As if the whole Liza Minnelli-David Gest tableau couldn't get any weirder, David Gest confounds us again. Gest now accuses Minnelli of spousal abuse. Seriously.
- Apparently Liza would get into drunken rages and beat the crap out of David, causing him "throbbing pain, severe headaches, vertigo, nausea, hypertension, scalp tenderness and insomnia."
- Gest alleges the alcohol gave Liza "remarkable force and strength." Maybe there was PCP in the alcohol. Or maybe she's like Popeye, with alcohol her spinach.
- She yelled, "I am the star!" after she beat Gest.
- The nadir of their relationship was in June, when Liza's career had "eclipsed, she was an alcoholic, overweight, (and) unable to be effectively merchandised."
- Liza bit a guard who was trying to restrain her.
- Gest has had many, many injections in his face to alleviate the pain from her beatings.

They shoould have stayed together - they were just the freakiest couple ever. And imagine having Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor at you wedding. God that must have been one hell of a freak show!!!

the whole time they were looking in the mirror- when they finally saw each other- they realised they were both as ugly as each other when it came to the crunch. Only one ugly person per relationship is allowed in show business!
