like a made a poem that basically makes a story. Is that okay?

yes yes yes it is a-ok.
A poem really is like a story. At least some are. I think that a poem can be as long as a regular book would be. I know that there are lots of books that are called "novels in verse" that are basiclly poems (at least that is my view on it). So, yes it is perfectly fine. But, if this poem is for a homework assignment I don't know if the teacher's view will be the same as mine. Hope it is. Merry Christmas!

Why sure. Look at Homer's Oddyssey, The Iliad. Then the Romans also had their "Epics" The Aeineid etc. Poems do not have to be short and sweet. Also look at some of the more recent poets Allan Ginsbergh, Jack Kerouac. Some of theirs are short and some continue for pages. It is all in the thoughts you have to get on paper.

Yes, a poem can be as long as you like. When you write a really long poem, one that tells a story, it is called a narrative poem. A narrative poem is a poem telling a story. Ballads, epics, and lays are different kinds of narrative poems. The link in my sources is to a glossary of poetry terms.

Yes - if it says what you want it to say, then there's no length that it can or can't be. Many of the great poems in history were "epic" poems.

It depends......Some poems r supposed to be really long cos it suits the style.....It depends on the subject of ur poem and if it's still interesting even tho it's really long GOOD LUCK!

Sure that's okay...its called a narrative poem...by the way all of Shakespear's stuff is written that way (iambic pentameter)...and Paradise Lost is kind of long.
