if i put one fish in my 5 gallon tank will it live if i am leaving for about for weeks, if i turn off the heater, light, and air pump, but leave on the filter and put in a piece of vacation food that is meant to feed 10 fish for ten days in a 10 gallon tank. it stays pretty warm in my room but there wouldnt be much light.

just go buy an automatic fish feeder, fill it, do all of the things u mentioned and it should be fine. just be sure not to overfeed

The vacation feeder will release enough food for 10 fish in a 10 gallon, which is just like really really overfeeding your fish. The waste from the excess food will cause an ammonia spike and probably kill your fish in the first week you are gone. I would look into the automatic feeders that are on a timer that you hang from your aquarium. It will release a set amount of food every day so that your fish is fed evenly over the 4 weeks you are gone.

I'm not a scientist but I would say that by the time you got back from your vaca you will have a dead fish.
