Well it depends, if Europe achieved financial union they would be far more powerful than the states and could force USA to lift its restrictive and unfair trade practices. India is not an economic contender at the moment but may become one eventually. China will soon become economically powerful if not dominant. With States in an Economic decline Japan would suffer depressing many Asian Economies which might either boost or repress China's economy. Furthermore, China is investing heavily in Africa, another unknown variable.

Those couturiers are developing rather fast and have already surpassed the US educational wise, yet there economy and government aren't as stable as the US or Britain. China is a Communist country and they have trouble w/ in their gov't as well as India-who is a newly independent country from Britain. US and Britain will always be a developed country because they have the money and resources to get what they need to be a first world nation. Other countries do no have as much imports or exports as US and Britain does. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out though.

In financial terms, I would imagine China is already worth more than the UK, their industry has boomed lately, as has India's. As an Island, we are taxed mercilessly and having been paying a high price for the war in Iraq. Interesting to see how the Chinese will cope with their new found wealth - they are still a very simple and superstitious race (rhino horn, bear bile etc) and standards of living seeming to carry across all lines of the spectrum - ie rich city people thru to paddy field workers living in mud huts.

China will rival the USA as a superpower, but im baffelled why people rate India in any esteem they obviousley have not been their. As anyone who has will know its the third world at its worst, the population does not believe in contraception so the poverty will multiply, cows walk the roads as they have freedom to roam hindu rights. India has absolutely no industry or infrastructure to speak of apart from a couple of call centres they are a country of subsistence farmers.

You could argue that China already is more successful than the US since the US deficit is largely owed to China as I understand it.
A serious economic collapse far wrse than the "Great Depression" would be required for the US or UK to fall to developing status. Possible, but not likely.

i dont know about great britain but the good ole U.S.A. is going to be a third world country soon enough with all the billionairs and millionairs moving somewhere else to get away. right now our leaders are getting fat pocketbooks by trading and selling us out. we loose a lot of industry, textile being one that is "cheaper" in other countries aside from our own. before long this country wont have anything to offer but debt.

Undoubtedly. It's happened already in relation to places like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and South Korea - we in the so-called developed countries are just not aware of it yet.
